iPad Display Options

Right now you can only display your iPad on a projector with either a VGA connector (http://goo.gl/XweLA) or the HDMI connector (http://goo.gl/Ghvry).
You also can display an iPad on a projector with an Apple TV (connected to a projector…the projector must have an HDMI connector as that’s the only connector on the Apple TV) and both the Apple TV and the iPad needs to be on the wireless network.
There are some other solutions that may or may not work but those are the ones that don’t involve a great deal of trickery. On the radar are companies like Banana TV that will allow you to push certain content to your computer from the iPad but it’s not mirroring…yet. When asked they said, “Believe me, we’re working on it!”
You can see a desktop on your iPad with apps like Logmein (http://goo.gl/lYGWW) 29.99 or Splashtop Remote (http://goo.gl/SALKi) which is on sale now for .99! Splashtop on Windows it’s free but the OS X version is 4.99 currently although there site says that will jump to $19.99 soon.

Getting Work Done

The iPad is not only replacing my laptop but with two relatively new apps, it’s also replacing the need to bring papers with me. My job occasionally requires me to sign documents and send them into our office. PDF Expert allows me to interact with PDF files that have check boxes or other interactive features as if I was working on a laptop or desktop. The great feature is rather than printing and signing the document I can sign it right on my iPad and email to whoever needs it. I’m going to try and use this as a sign-in sheet for my trainings too! The down side is PDF Expert is 9.99 but it’s worth the money. Find PDF Expert here

If you want to sign PDF’s for free…as of the writing of the this post (11/9/2011) Softsign will allow you to simply sign PDFs and add some annotations. It doesn’t allow you to interact with forms and checkboxes like PDF Expert but it’s still pretty good..and it’s free! Find Softsign here

Taking notes on the iPad

0

Using the iPad to do work is my favorite topic right now and taking notes with it is made a lot easier with a few apps!

Penultimate

This one is great if you are only concerned with writing on the iPad

Paper Desk

This is a wonderful all around app for notes, pictures, writing and typing on the iPad. Right now it’s 3.99 but it goes on sale frequently, last week it was .99 There is a Paper Desk Light version that’s free and it can give you an idea of how well this might work for you.

Notability

I don’t have much experience with this one but it’s only .99 cents this week…it looks very comparable to Paper Desk but I don’t know. It has really good ratings and I’ve already purchased this, but I have not used it enough yet.
